"...Here we are opening to 'the religion of psychology' by suggesting that psychology is a variety of religious experience...Psychology as religion implies imagining all psychological event as effects of gods in the soul and all activities to do with soul, such as therapy, to be operations of ritual in relation to these gods...It is not a question of religion turning to psychology - no, psychology is simply going home..." |

"...Jamie came into my life through the recommendation of another wonderful woman. The first time I saw her was for a three day retreat at her home. The work we did, the massage, the food, the tools she gave me to take home, were wonderful. It felt so good to be going deeper, in an atmosphere of absolute safety. I felt deep trust for Jamie and was able to start to allow myself to feel emotions that my anxiety would have shut down if I'd been on my own. Jamie possesses such depth, is so on target, so tuned in, and is so relaxed. Her generosity is touching..."
"...Working with material from her incredible book, The Mythic Body; An Archetypical Journey, and with the archetypical patterns was astonishing. Rather than focusing on the wounds of the past, she helped me to connect to my own inner wholeness by helping me discover threads from the past and pulling them through to the present. These were things that were within me, but that I wasn't aware of! Strong and positive things. She gave me a way to find, and to feel ,meaning in my life..."

What is your view of the economic crisis we face today and how can we lessen its negative impact on our lives?
When it comes to money, we're a little bit schizophrenic in our society. We like to profess that, "money can't buy happiness" while at the same time we are totally consumed with the process of either making or spending money. There is a lot of confusion around money and what it means to us personally. By it's very nature, money is symbolic. So while we may say we want more money, it always helps to delve beneath the surface and attempt to see what it is that money truly represents for us. It may represent power, security, happiness or even love. Whatever it represents, money by itself will not give us all of what we want. There has to be a inner change to go along with our outer circumstances. There are many people who have an abundance of money but still feel powerless, insecure, unhappy and unloved in their lives.
As far as our so called financial crisis goes, it is magnified by a kind of mass hysteria that propagates the lie that there is not enough to go around. We are relentlessly bombarded by news of all the ways in which things are breaking down. The implication is that the universe is miserly and impoverished and we're going to have to fight, scratch and tear for every little crumb that we can get out of it. The news media rarely mentions how incredibly fortunate we still are in this part of the world. What is lacking at this time is not so much money but imagination and vision. We have to activate our collective imagination in order maintain a vision of how we can move forward. Individually we don't have to solve the whole financial crisis. We do, however, have to face our own inner ambivalence in terms of our capabilities. All challenges in life call for a response. We have to decide whether we are victims of our circumstances or whether we are talented, intelligent, honest, hard working individuals capable of facing this challenge. Ten years from now, we'll hear the story of someone who saw an opportunity during this crisis and came up with a simple idea that has now made her incredibly wealthy. We'll all be amazed by her story and wonder why we didn't come up with the idea ourselves.
There
is a lot of talk of spending our way out of this crisis. But what are
we going to spend on? Are we going to spend on assets that help to improve
our lives or are we going to spend on liabilities that put us further
into bondage? It is said, for example that alcohol sales rise in times
like this. There are all kinds of ways to invest our time and money. Some
ways will help to build our lives, while others will add to our burden.
Recently my husband and I purchased a year's pass for Bikram
Yoga. It was a substantial investment but the returns are even more
impressive. Not only are we getting internal benefits but we've also seen
savings on our monthly food and entertainment bill, which has more than
made up for cost of our classes. There are many other example of positive
ways of investing our resources. It's up to us to imagine what those ways
can be.
