This
section features suggestions for places to go in the Kelowna area where
you can "let go" and have a bit of fun. Its purpose is to encourage
your support of "local" Kelowna area events and enterprises.
The Alternator GalleryLocated
at the Rotary Centre for the Arts, The Alternator Gallery is unique
in that it is run by local artists as a non-profit society. Its
mandate is to offer a venue alternative for art that is innovative,
unorthodox and controversial. Membership to the gallery is inexpensive
and brings with it many advantages. As well as exhibition space,
The Alternator Gallery also provides workshops, media events, panel
discussions and art exchanges. Members of The Alternator Gallery
have access to various video production equipment, such as video
camera, lights, sound, video editing software, green screen etc.
Always a place of creative energy, The Alternator Gallery is well
worth a visit the next time you are in Kelowna's Cultural District.

"...I found Jamie in a time in my life that I was living day to day wondering what the point of life was and why it had to be so gloomy all of the time. After spending three wonderful days in one of Jamie's retreats, my vision became very clear and my spirit was returned. She helped me see what needed to be done to set me back on the right track again and how to maintain that path. I am very thankful for all of the support and guidance that Jamie has given me. She has restored my faith and spiritual strength..."

This
website was picked for our Net Gem this month because of its originality
and creative content. The site is the creation of Matt Taylor and displays
high calibre, videos, art work, graphic design and photography. His video
page is particularly worth spending some time exploring. My favourites
are: Sprang,
Merry
Xmas 2007, Dubya
and a late Halloween Treat entitled, Mrs.
Simpson's Halloween Greeting.

In some of your books and handouts, you mention the psyche's intention towards wholeness. Could you elaborate on this?
While it would take too long for me to give an in depth answer, there are a few points that may be of help with this question. To begin, let's look at the word "psyche." "Psyche" is the Greek word for "soul." The psyche is our whole being, the totality of who we are. My source of inspiration for the work that I do is Carl Gustav Jung. From a Jungian perspective, the psyche consists of more than consciousness. We are more than our conscious awareness. Psyche also includes our personal and our collective unconscious. Jung distinguished himself when he was alive and his work continues to stand out today, from the fact that he was more interested in what direction the psyche was taking within an individual, rather than being overly fascinated by the ways in which an individual might be breaking down.
I see the psyche as moving towards wholeness. I see this both within my own life and in the lives of those who come to see me. Even the neurotic symptoms that afflict us, whether it be addiction, mood disorder, emotional turmoil or mental stress, can all be seen as indications that the psyche is attempting to get our attention and trying to initiate a process whereby a new equilibrium can be established. Even the crooked paths that so many of us take, can be seen as the meandering of the soul on its journey towards wholeness. If we believe that we are more than what we are conscious of, then we may want to engage in a dialogue with the deeper levels of our being. This is the direction that I believe the psyche is always moving us towards and this is what I mean by the psyche's intention towards wholeness.

Has
anyone noticed how few "non-franchise" restaurants there are
left in Kelowna? Are you tired of eating in a restaurant located in a
mall parking lot? Are you looking to support locally owned eating establishments?
If your answer is "yes" then give the Bohemian Café a
try. This restaurant is always buzzing with enthusiastic diners who have
come to experience the great food, friendly service and fantastic ambience.
We highly recommend you visit them Sunday mornings for breakfast or brunch.
Reservations are advisable as The Bohemian Café is becoming "the
place for breakfast" on Sundays. Please mention our ad when you visit
them.
