October's Health Tip - The Body Remembers
The body remembers and speaks its mind. Having
worked in the field of health and inner healing for over twenty years,
I am very familiar with the term "body armouring". I encounter
it daily in my work and am aware of its impact on peoples' lives.
Body armouring refers to the body's coping-reflex
mechanism. The body will tense muscle tissue whenever overwhelming emotion
or unmanageable stress is encountered. In an attempt to protect itself,
it adopts a stiff, tight and defensive stance. It enters into a muscular
holding pattern on a cellular level and becomes resistant to change and
release. Unexpressed emotions, such as fear, grief and anger can result
in this tensing or armouring of the body. Ignored for too long, these
emotions have been suppressed and are often rooted in early life issues.
They will inevitably find a way to manifest themselves both externally
in our bodies and internally in our moods and our thoughts.
The good news is that the body also remembers
its former and instinctive state of well being. There was a time, not
so long ago when we walked with grace, excitement, freedom and exuberance.
Young children are a helpful reminder and a great reflection of these
earlier, innocent days. They give us a reference point which we can use
to focus on and visualize as a goal in our own journey.
Massage, Yoga and Tai Chi, are just a few sample
disciplines that will help the body remember this time before stress and
trauma took hold. The more we engage in positive activities, the more
quickly our bodies respond to healing. Stress and tensions melt away,
leaving us in a familiar, peaceful place that has always been our natural
birthright. The body remembers and speaks it's mind. We can only profit
immensely by listening.
A Reminder:

Do not forget that while you can read my health tips directly on my web
site, I have written a book entitled Inner
Care, which is a compilation of ten of my health tips revised
and expanded. Inner Care sells for $15 and makes a wonderful gift for
anyone interested in optimum health. Inner Care is available by
contacting
me directly or can be purchased by credit card using our PayPal
shopping cart. Visit
our Products' Web Site - Inner Guidance Page by clicking here.

Lifestyle Choice:
As well as massage, there are many activities
that can help alleviate the problem of body armouring. Free and easily
accessible, they can become a supportive element of our journey to healing.
Walking, swimming, deep breathing exercises, stretching exercises and
encounters with nature are just a few simple, positive options that can
be a great source of release.

Quotes:
"...We shall not cease from exploration
and the end of all our exploring
will be to arrive where we started
and know the place for the first time,
through the unknown remembered gate.
When the last of earth left to discover
is that which was in the beginning;
at the source of the longest river.
The voice of the hidden waterfall
and the children in the apple tree,
not known because not looked for;
but heard, half heard in the stillness
between two waves of the sea.
Quick now, here now,
always a condition of complete simplicity,
costing not less than everything..."
